Bonfire Block Semillon 2009
Wine: The Bonfire Block is so named after the dilapidated five decade old vineyard that was razed twenty years ago to be replanted to Semillon.
Vintage: The 2009 growing season began with initial rain in December which provided the vines with enough moisture to cope with a hot January period. Cooler temperatures from February onwards provided an ideal climate for even ripening throughout our white varieties.
Tasting Note: Touched with a firm straw-like colour, the 2009 Bonfire Block is bright and attractive. An immediate aroma of lightly fired oak wafts from the glass and upon closer inspection, a stronger note of lemon zest prevails. The palate is tight and structured yet has an attractive, creamy mouth feel due to time on lees. Fresh lemon and lime fruits create a persistent and refreshing length that is neatly supported by gentle French oak. The Bonfire Block Semillon is known to age exceptionally well and will reward your patience with the development of greater richness and complexity over time.
