Rifle & Hunt Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
Story Rifle & Hunt sounds like the beginning of a tale from an early hunting expedition, but the story is really not that complicated. It's more like directions rather than a name, with the Pertaringa property being on the corner of Rifle Range and Hunt Roads in McLaren Vale!
Vintage Above average rainfall in winter set the vines up with healthy canopies. In December some rain helped brighten up the vines and from there ripened perfectly. The crops were balanced with winemakers being able to pick fruit at hearts desire. The wine emerging from 2010 red varieties were of particularly high standard.
Nose The nose is overlayed with dark fruit, blackcurrant and mulberry with well-rounded integrated smokey oak aromas and lovely herbacious tones.
Palate Rich and balanced with concentrated fruit and black ink on the palate. The tannins form a perfect straight line in the mouth and accentuates that the wine will age with caracter and depth.
Pairing Slow cooked lamb shanks with truffle infused polenta.
